Drilling mud cleaner is also called Desander and Desilter assembly, which is the combination of desander, desilter and an underflow screen. Namely, mud cleaners consist of a two-stage separation process using a combination of hydrocyclones mounted over a shale shaker to operate as a single unit, designed to handle the entire circulating volume.
The process of dispose drilling fluid with mud cleaner can be separated into two steps: First step: the drilling fluid is separated into low-density overflow and high-density underset by swirler, then the overflow returns to the drilling fluid circulating system, and the underset falls on the detail shale shaker; Second step: the high-density underset is separated into two parts by detail shale shaker, the barites and the other particles which are smaller than the mesh traverse through the screen, the particles which are larger than the mesh expelled from screen. The mesh number of select screen is 100~325, usually using the 150 mesh number.
Drilling cuttings cleaners are effective on both weighted and unweighted drilling-fluid systems in removing and drying solids while retaining the expensive liquid. The hydrocyclones (desanders and desilters) make the primary separation with underflow directed onto the shaker’s vibrating screen. Used correctly, can effectively eliminate the harmful solid phase which in drilling fluid, control the viscosity of drilling fluid, recycle the useful liquid phase, and have the significance for extending the service life of mud cleaner and easing the labour intensity of workers.
